Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

My workers comp Physican Rights. Do I have any?

I have been on WC for a shoulder injury (which they only partly fixed because they said the other part was from a 15 yr old injury, but I didn't have pain for 15 years, just the last 2-3) I had surgery and now they want to start on my elbow surgery. I am not crazy about the doctor(1 hour 10 min away) I asked If I had to have the surgery and they said I could refuse it but would be taken off all restrictions at work, and I could choose another doctor but then I would have to pay for it. I had the right to a second opinion but that they had the right to deny me. I am confused is all this true? I don't feel like this dr has my interests in mind- not to mention he is rude. I have worked for this employer for almost 15 years and it really bothers me that everyone is treating me like a number. Does anyone really care about how I feel? Could someone please help me understand?

You don't have to have the surgery and if they cut you off, you'd win. However, you'd also start waiting the year for the case to come around. Second, you choose your own doctor. I have almost 30 years of workers comp experience and was a former adjunct member of the Workers Compensation Appeal Board. William S. Stern
