Re: how many years

I think that you are misunderstanding what the lawyer is saying. first, while Michigan law allows you to receive comp dor your whole life (although it goes down dramatically upon receipt of old age Social Security), when deciding what a lump sum is worth, many carriers will not pay more than five to six years. Otherwise, they'll continue the weekly benefits, try to put you to work, etc. Second, it is highly doubtful that you can sue for wrongful termination unless you specifically have a contract that was breached or there was a violation of some statute concerning race, religion, color, creed, national origin or sex.
