Legal Question in Administrative Law in Minnesota

Alchohol

If one is twenty. Has never had problems until about five months ago. Since then has become extremely intoxicated about three or four times. Has also gone to detox. (Receiving a minor) Does this person have any choices. If parents want them to go to an outpatient treatment can they choose? If this person decides not to go or to move out of parents house, and parents believe only choice is to sent to inpatient. Is there a possibility they could do this? The person believes she is strong enough to overcome this and admits she has the ability to become and alcoholic, but wants to prevent this. What are her options? Thank you for the help.

Re: Alchohol

This person has a right to refuse treatment without a court order of commitment.

This person would be well-advised to seek treatment on her own if she has any reason to believe her drinking is out of control, and it sounds as though it may be.

AA, Al-anon, Teen-anon and other groups in the community will be glad to provide information and support about treatment options which are voluntary and outpatient.

Get help before things get really bad, and best of luck to you.
