Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Minnesota

Appeal to District Court

I recently won a case brought against me in conciliation court. I just received a notice (within 20 day limit) of her appealing the decision. What is the process of this appeal? Do they decide if the appeal is worthwhile? She wants to have it heard by a jury. What is the time frame I am looking at before it will occur? I am distressed and confused as to why I have to defend myself again. Could they decide not to re-hear it? Do they collect the notes from the previous hearing in the conciliation court. Thank you for your time.

Re: Appeal to District Court

Appeal is a matter of right. If you win you get your costs etc. You should receive a form from court explaining your rights on appeal. I am sorry for the brief response but it is hard to discuss this in the short format of an email.
