I won the case in conciliation court
now the other party is appealing. What do I need to do to prepare for district court and can I ask for the other party to pay for my lawyer fees

In a civil case, in most instances, attorneys fees cannot be awarded. District court has far more stringent rules of procedure that are far too numerous to be listed here.
You would be wise to hire counsel.
