Civil Money Penalties
I received a letter stating that I might be assessed civil money penalties. What does that mean?

Depending on who sent it, it might mean liability on contract, or it might mean YOU have an action for Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violation ( if sent by 3rd Party Collector).
