mortgage payment
I wrote a check to a bank for my
mortgage paid in full: do I still owe the
balance on the loan?

Re: mortgage payment
you should ask the bank to provide you a certificate of "full and final payment/settlement of mortgage dues". There may still be some payments due e.g. interest, charges, etc.
