Legal Question in Banking Law in Minnesota
Over this past weekend, my son's father and his girlfriend lied about helping my son buy a car. He claimed that he had found a car and needed $1500 to purchase it. They live 5 hrs away and asked that the money be transferred to her checking account. He would purchase the car and deliver it by that night. After transferring the money they never delivered the car and ignored all my calls.
In notifying the bank this morning they said they could not reverse the transfer and that the girlfriend would have to transfer the money back into my account. The only thing they could do was freeze her account, which is helpful but in so many words, it was indicated to me that there was less then $1500 in the account. I believe the account is in her name only.
This afternoon, she finally picked up my call and of course said she would transfer my money back but that hasn't happened yet.
What are my legal options? Can I file a complaint? Will notifying the police help in anyway?

It is a civil contract matter where any legal action would have to be filed in Conciliation Court.
