Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Minnesota

can i file bankruptcy twice?

To Whom It May Concern:

my question is if you filed bankruptcy and had it discharged in 1999. can i file again or how long do i have to wait....any there anything i can do.....after i filed bankruptcy.....my husband and i separated and it sent my financial state in a whirlwind. i originally filed in Minnesota and i now live in colorado.....is there anything i can do at all. if so what. and if now how long will i have to wait..i filed a chapter 7 i believe where it dismissed all the debt. most of which was medical bills. can a person file twice? since our separation i have cc debt and a foreclosure on a home that is still pending and a repossion...is there anything i can do to stop the creditors at this time.if so what if not how long will i have to wait....

Thank you,

Re: can i file bankruptcy twice?

You can only file a chapter 7 case once every seven years. However, you CAN file a chapter 13 case. In chapter 13 you will have to repay a portion of your debts. In chapter 13 it is also possible to prevent foreclosure by repaying a percentage of the past due mortgage payments over three to five years. Please feel free to call me to discuss your situation in more detail. ph. (800) 303-0720
