Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Minnesota
Selling home for more than exemption after discharge
After receiving bankruptcy discharge we want to sell our home. Home appraisal was done prior to filing and given to trustee. Appraisal value was within the exemption amount. Home prices in our area are going up rapidly. Can we keep the additional money if the house sells for more than the exempt amount? If so, How long should I wait to sell after discharge or can I sell right away?

Re: Selling home for more than exemption after discharge
So long as the appraisal wasn't fraudulent, there should be no reason why you can't sell the home at a higher price if it increases in market value after the discharge.
