Assumed Name and LLC
Can I start a LLC with a name already documented as an assumed name?

If someone else owns the assumed name, you probably can't start the LLC using that name without getting his/her permission to use the similar name. If you already own the name, then you can start the LLC but before it will accept the LLC's name the SOS will probably require you to file a document permitting the new LLC to use the assumed name.

Yes you may use the same name, appended with an LLC at the end. You will need to file an additional document entitled "Consent for Use of Name" which can be filed simultaneous with the Articles of Organization.
