Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota
Business Law - Interstate Commerce
We haul cattle for hire. When a broaker calls and offers a load, we accept the load, send trucks to go load them then the broaker calls back and says he gave them away to someone else. Did we have a binding verbal contract? Nearly all of the loads we contract to haul are arranged in this manner. How can we seek to control this paractice of broakers giving us loads and then giving them away after we have agreed to take them?

You should have a ready-to-go contract which can be emailed or FAXED, and has language for non-cancellation.
You should get a CC # for fee and get advance payment.
I have 25 years business law experience and can help you with that if you wish. (Probably for less than 1 cancelled deal.)
