Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota
Contractor Warranties
I am a Hardwood Flooring Contractor in Minnesota. I signed a contract in 2004 to install a hardwood floor along with sand and finish the floor. The job was completed in 2004 and the customer was not happy with workmanship. I signed a warranty contract with customer to redo the job also signed in2004. Customer waited till January of 2008 to do warranty work. Warranty work was completed. I was contacted this month July 2009 that the customer again had some issues a year and seven months after warranty work was completed. I went to inspect the floor and meet with customer. I video taped the floor and found that the floor was severly damaged by the families new pet dog. The customer is now filing suit for bad workmanship due to sanding marks he says are in the floor. He also has another flooring company saying the floor was not done up to par. Is there a time frame for this type of action. The floor was done properly and has been damaged by the family pet. What should I do?

Re: Contractor Warranties
You need to defend the suit. You probably ought to hire an attorney to defend the suit. There is a statute of limitations, and that is something the attorney should look at.
Re: Contractor Warranties
Best solution- mediate the dispute with another contractor as mediator.
Call for help getting that set up.
