Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota

create a bussiness

Hello,

I am working for a company that manufactures dog leash. I would like to open my own company and manufacture dog leash. My leash will not be identical as the leash of the company I am working for. Will this company has the right to attack me with a lawyer?

Re: create a bussiness

Thank you for your question.

The answer depends on whether you were merely an employee or in a managerial capacity (or an owner) at the existing business, and whether or not you have a non-compete agreement. It also depends on whether you are reproducing some design element that may be protected by trademark, among other things. You should review the particulars of your business plan and idea with a lawyer. You may feel free to contact me if you have more specific questions. My contact information is below.
