Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota
Am I entitled to any reimbursement?
I entered into a contract with a business to purchase a semi truck from them and to drive for them. The terms of the contract were: pay $400 a month for 32 months at which time the semi would be paid for...additionally, the company would dispatch me for 16% of the total of what the load paid. That literally was the extent of the contract-it was very brief. After 8 months, I found that the high cost of fuel, the low rates/poor company performance and the many repairs were too excessive to remain in the contract and had to leave them the truck and find another job in order to survive. During those 8 months, I made payments on truck, paid insurance, paid for permits and plates, bought fuel, bought parts for the truck and performed the repairs and maintaineance on the vehicle myself. The lienholder of the semi is a bank - the company took out a loan to acquire the truck before I was associated with them. They contracted with me at a later date to make payments to them, the company. At no time was I ever directly involved with the bank. They in turn would pay the bank. I have statements issued biweekly which show pay and deductions. My question is: am I entitled to any compensation or reimbursement from the company? Thanks.

Re: Am I entitled to any reimbursement?
I would need to see the contract. WHo has the truck now? Were you an employee or Independent Contractor?
