Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota

Paying of Dividends

My husband's father invested in a gas station and divided the monthly payments along with the balloon payment among four people (father, two sons & a daughter). The paperwork states that my husband is part owner. Two years ago, my husband and his father had a falling out and his father stopped sending the checks for the monthly payouts. We were not married at the time and I didn't feel that I had the right to ask any questions so we just dropped the subject because we were in the process of moving to another state. The balloon payment was paid out in Oct. of this year and my husband's father sent us paperwork to sign off on. We never signed anything and got a pro-bono lawyer in our state. My husband's father's lawyer will not return any of our lawyer's calls and we just found out that the other brother did recieve his money. Did they need my husband's signature to release that money and if so, how do we check to see if they just forged his signature? We would like to get what is rightfully ours but do not have the money to pursue the case. We live in a different state then my husband's father and have been told that we would have to hire a lawyer in his father's state. What are our options? Thank you.

Re: Paying of Dividends

Sounds like its time to hire an attorney in the area of business law. If the amount of payout is worth pursuing you should proceed without delay. I would need to review relevant corporate documents to advise.
