Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota
Previous Owner Still Writing Checks in Our Business Name
We purchased the business on C 4 D last April. 2 days ago we received a box of business checks that he ordered with our business name on them, and his and his wifes name included under the business name. When we bought the business, we bought the name, building and contents in the building.
How is this going to affect us, if now there are 2 state tax ID numbers in use. How will it affect us with the Federal Government. How should we handle a situation like this. If they have legal rights to do this, I do not want to pursue anything. If it is going to cause problems with tax things and government, we need to protect us.

Re: Previous Owner Still Writing Checks in Our Business Name
Was there a written agreement re: purchase of business?
Were any attorneys involved?
I would need to check corporate or business filings to determine liability.
Sounds like its time for an attorney to add some legal order to a chaotic situation.
Call or e=mail for assistance.
