Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Minnesota

problem at work involving a threat

There is a situation at work where two people made threats to each other, and because myself and one other person were involved in a lesser degree we are being punished too. Out of the three people involved I'm being punished much more harshly than the other two employees. I'm the only one being moved to another department with crazy hours. Even though the person who made the complaint was worried about one of the other guys and not me. By managements own admission I am not any more responsible than the other two employees involved. Also by managements own admission the reason I'm being punished much more harshly is because I stood up for myself and explained my side of the story. I even have seniority over the other people involved and I feel I'm being treated very unfairly. The perceived threat and my involvement is also very questionable but that would be another couple paragraphs. Is there any possible legal acion I can take?

Re: problem at work involving a threat

You make a distinction between yourself and management...if you are a member of a union, it sounds like you have a cause for a grievance or disciplinary review.

If not, you'll really have to take the particulars of your situation to an attorney and see what your options are.

Workplace threats are certainly cause for firing, and any steps management takes short of that are not generally actionable, unless a protected right is in question.

It is not at all clear that a protected right is at issue here, so you'll need to see an attorney for detailed advice..
