Legal Question in Technology Law in Minnesota
Email Harassment?
Can I be sued for sending this message to a site that scams others out of virtual money?
''I think it is so mean that you try to scam other innocent neopians out of
their hard earned neopoints. It is just a game, play fairly or don't play
at all, cheaters never win, and winners never cheat.''
They sent a reply telling me they were going to sue me. Can they do this? Thanks.

The possible legal claims that theoretically could be used against you are below. However, always be careful when writing disparaging remarks to a public forum. However, also remember, that if your remarks are "truthful", then that is a valid legal defense, and such cause of action below are often times difficult to prove by the person/entity suing you. Any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person.
At common law, written defamation was libel and spoken defamation was slander. Today, however, there are no such clear definitions. Permanent forms of defamation, such as the written or pictorial, are usually called libel, while the spoken or gestured forms are called slander.
