Legal Question in Technology Law in Minnesota

Someone is spoofing my email address and sending out defamatory emails to my friends that appear to come from my account. The emails are not necessarily harassing but they do make me look bad if anyone were to believe they actually came from me. I think I know who the person is that is doing this. Is this illegal? Would I have a case against this personI in court?
