Legal Question in Construction Law in Minnesota

no contract

I reciently hired licenced contractor to do a job, and he made some serious mistakes on the job. I never signed a contract or any other paper through this whole process now he has billed me. But i will have to go back and fix his work as he refuses to do so. Where do i stand with no contract i have not paid him yet.

Re: no contract

I would post a bond or hold in escrow the amount of funds you owe the contractor until you resolve the dispute with them and work to resolve the dispute.

Re: no contract

You have the right to require the contractor to remediate any deficiency before you pay for the work. Although you may have no written contract, you may have orally agreed to the work and to other terms. Feel free to contact me and we can discuss your options.
