Legal Question in Construction Law in Minnesota
Mechanic's Lien
We are considering putting a lien on a client's property. She is concerned that it may interfere with her ability to ask the county for relief from property taxes, where the county would put a tax lien on the property. Is there any limit to the number or types of liens any one property can have? The property is of sufficient value that I don't think the dollar amount of both liens would be an issue.

Re: Mechanic's Lien
No, there's no limit to the number of liens. If the value of the liens exceeds the value of the property, the coordinate lien claimants' claims are apportioned. Generally liens with first priority will be settled before subsequent liens are addressed.
