Mechanics Lien on rental unit
My alarm company contracted with another provider to install a system in my apartment. The contractor was not paid and they are now threatening a mechanic's lien against my residence. I am a renter. Can a lien be placed on a property that I do not own?

Re: Mechanics Lien on rental unit
Maybe. There are a number of issues regarding mechanic's liens. I would need to know more about your situation to tell you definitively. If a mechanic's lien is asserted, your landlord may have to assert a claim against you and/or perhaps evict you.
