$100 Deposit suddenly non-refundable

Myself and a friend are planning a stag party for a good friend. We hired a male entertainment company to send us a male dancer. The two of us visited the office in person wanting to make sure the company was on the up and up. We left a $100 cash deposit and received a receipt upon hiring the company. At this time we discussed the three day cancellation policy, this was that we have three days before the event to cancel and receive a refund. Realizing nobody was very interested in a male dancer we decided to cancel and save ourselves another $100 while getting a refund on our deposit. When we called to cancel 6 days in advance, 3 days before the three day cancellation policy was up, the employee refused to refund our money pointing out there was a note at the bottom of the receipt we received stating refunds are at the discretion of the company. So even though verbally he told us we had three days before the event to cancel to receive our money back he tells us at his discretion he is NOT going to refund the money. Is there any way to get our $100 back?

Unless they voluntarily refund it, you're going to have to take them to Conciliation Court.

With the language on the receipt you have an uphill battle.Was there any other written contract?
