Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota
Contract Law
We purchased a monitored alarm system knowing that we may move before the end of the 60 month monitoring contract. The sales rep. informed us that it would transfer free of charge and all of the equipment would trasfer, including the contract. We recently moved with 2 years remaining on the contract and when we attempted to trasfer the service, we were informed that it would cost $195, the contract would renew to 36 months for a basic system. There is no mention of this in the contract we signed; it is their long standing policy. Did the sales person commit fraud? Is there anything we can do? (The contract was signed in VA)

Re: Contract Law
If it isn't in anything you signed, you can fight it.
