Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota
Copyrighting-performing arts
I am trying to offer my screenplay for a sitcom to a potential party and want to protect my interest. Can I simply mail myself a copy of my screenplay, having the unopened dated postmarked envelope as my proof of original creation?

That is not sufficient as postmarks can be forged. Contact a copywright lawyer for professional advice. You can call the State Bar of Michigan's attorney referral hotline if you don't know of anyone. 800.968.0738.
Good luck - call me when you're rich and famous.
