Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota
Negative Credit Report for Mortgage Listed in Divorce
I was divorced about 4 years ago. In this divorce, my ex wanted and recieved the home along with the mortgage through a court order. I signed a quit claim on the property. She then remarried and has since let the mortgage go into foreclosure. The problem is that the mortgage company wouldn't release me and I was still listed. Now I ran a credit report and have discovered that this mortgage is listed and is killing my credit. I can't buy a house. What can I do to resolve this problem? Thanks

I would want to review the court order in the divorce decree and then write a letter to the mortgage company re; your situation.
