Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota
online loans
I have an online loan place that says they don't need a court order to garnish my wages. they say they have voluntary writ or something like that that states I gave them permission to SPEAK to mgmt at my work. A finance person once told me that if they don't have a liscence to practice in my state they can't do anything. Do they need a court order to garnish.

Sounds like a load of crap. Let me take a look at your initial documents. Unless they have a judgment or have served a Summons and COmplaint under MN law, they can't do diddly with your employer. You may even have a lawsuit vs. THEM if they are using 3rd party collectors.
