Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota
Online Order Backfires
I ordered online from a company that builds computers with personal choice of accessories/components. On their site it says 5-10 business days for regular shipping. The computer got to me a week late.
The very same day I receieved my order the computer never started. After my 4th call to tech support I finally get an answer. They tell me to send it back ($60 nonrefundable) to be fixed. I call a week later and they are ''still working on it.'' After another two weeks of waiting the computer shows up in the same condition, poorly handled. The box it comes in is smashed and the motherboard, hard drive, etc. are loosely connected. Some of the components even had Scotch tape holding them together. After some fixing of my own I get it to start... for 2 seconds.
After another 20 calls I finally get an answer from tech support, only to be told to send it back to them again.
By this time I've gone past my 30day refundability because the shipping takes 2 weeks one way. I'm not spending another $60 nonrefundable shipment. Do I have a reasonable lawsuit here? Any way I can get money damages?
Not to sound evil, but I think they deserve a little enlightening. Many others on the site have the same complaints

Re: Online Order Backfires
We'll need to know where the company is based, but you could either sue there in small claims or possibly get some plaintiff's together and find an attorney to sue for all of you. We do Internet law, but it would take some research to determine what your best options are in this.
