Legal Question in Consumer Law in Minnesota
Work not done but paid for
Hello,
In a nut shell, I paid to have my roof re-shingled and the work was never done. The problem I have is I never had a contract done because at the time he was a friend that needed the money right away. The work was never completed and I am wondering what my legal right is? Can I take him to small claims court to get my money back? or is it a lessoned learned?
Thanks,
Jeff

With friends like him, who needs enemies?
Without a written contract, you still have a contract claim. Was he paid cash or check?
Any receipt or email re: job?
If total is less than $7500.00 CC might be the answer, but a Demand Letter from a Business Atty might do the trick alot quicker, esp. if there is a bond in place, or if he is licensed.
Call or email for help.
