Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Alleged Creditor Harassing Family Members

A former friend of my brother's has been harassing myself and my parents regarding alleged monies owed him by my brother. He cannot contact my brother (who has not lived at home for over 7 years) and is now calling us and threatening to sue us if we do not tell him where my brother is. I honestly do not know his address. I have asked this person to stop calling me and my parents, yet he insists on calling, writing and threatening to ''use everything in my arsenal to pursue this attack.'' Direct quote from a phone conversation. How do I stop him from harassing us?

You really should be retaining a lawyer to send a letter under the fair debt collection practices act.

If the debt collector still threatens you after receipt of the letter, you can commence an action in Federal Court seeking damages, together with attorney fees.
