Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

broken contract

I had a verbal contract from someone to do some remodeling for me. This was last October and the work is not finished. I do have paperwork and canceled checks. I paid full amt in advance to help him out as he was just getting started in business. He has been avoiding me and not answering my calls, I was told this is a fraud case. Is there anything I can do? Would the county Attorney be able to charge him?

Re: broken contract

As a former prosecutor, I can confidently state that the cty atty will not get involved in this matter. You can confirm this by calling their office.

I handle cases like this as a business attorney, and would likely start by issuing a Demand Lettern and follow up with litigation.

Call or email for more info.
