Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

civil judgment

I hold a judgment against another, I cannot get them to pay. How can I get the judgment switched to criminal so that I can get the person picked up. I know that landlords do this all the time. Thanks

Re: civil judgment

What you "know" and what reality is are 2 different things. What you may have heard of is the remedy of civil contempt after a judgment debtor fails to comply with a judicial order to disclose assets.

Call or write if you wish help with this.

Depending on judgment amount, it may be cost effective to hire an attorney.

Re: civil judgment

You cannot change a civil judgement to a criminal proceeding. In fact, it is highly unlikely that any criminal charges will apply if there is a civil remedy,

After you acquire a Judgement, you may seek financial disclosures as a part of the collection process.
