Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota
collections bill
I have received a bill from a collections agency for a surgery to an ex. girlfriends dog. This surgery was performed after we had been apart for quite some time. I also had a pet at this time and we would take them to the same vet together. I believe she put the surgery under my name instead of putting it under her own. It has been four years, since and I just got this letter in the mail today. Am I responsible for this bill when I had no knowledge of it happening for four years and did not give consent for her to use my name?

Re: collections bill
You must dispute the bill in writing. Write letter to collection agency (SENT CERTIFIED MAIL) requesting verification.
They are required to produce that within 30 days.
If you don't get that and they continue, you will need to contact an attorney.
