Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Collectors....

My husband,Shane, divorced 7 yrs ago. NO children so no contact with exwife. We have NO idea where she is. She has collectors & other businesses (not sure who) trying to reach her. They demand information that we have told them we don't know. We disconnected our home phone partly for this reason a few years ago. They have called Shane AT WORK! Just got a home phone again & the calls are starting again. I try to talk to supervisors, get the name of the company so I can resolve this issue but noone will give me this information. Today I was told that since Shane & his X were married that I ''just have to deal with it!'' My question is...Do I really need to deal with it? If they can get information on Shane when they aren't together & he has moved several times, why can't they get information on her, her new husband & new last name??? What rights do we have? I am ready to disconnect my phone again but then they will bother him at work again!

Thank-you!

Re: Collectors....

You need to assert your rights under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It seems clear that this company is in violation. Call for assistance.
