Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Possible credit card debt lawsuit?

A county sheriff civil unit deputy left a business card taped to the front door asking to ''please call'' the mobile number.

Should I consult with someone first?

How soon do I need to call?

You may wish to retain counsel. Do you know the creditor + amt due? (Approx)?

I handle these matters.

If it is the deputy's number, I would guess that the deputy wants to know when you will be there so he or she can hand you papers to start a lawsuit. Ignoring the summmons and complaint after they have been handed to you means you will lose automatically. You don't say where in Minnesota you live -- you should consult an attorney to see if there are defenses or negotiations you should undertake.
