Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Creditor calling neighbor and giving information

Can a creditor call your neighbor and tell them to have you call and then tell them you are under investigation and it is urgent? It had to do with a debt my disabled daughter owes and I called them to find out what this was about. They were extremely abusive when I called them and tried to see what this was about. This is the nosiest neighbor on the block and it will be all over that I am under ''investigation.'' Do I have any recourse?

Yes,if the debt collector is a third-party collection agency, you may have an action for damages under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I would need more specific information about the collector and the statements made, but you can either e-mail or call me Friday.
