Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota
Are Creditor threats legit?
My mother in law has an AmEx card with my spouse as a co-card holder. The balance is past due, they want entire amount or will ''go after employment and assets'' even though we've tried a payment plan. What do they mean by ''go after'', can they do this? To what extent can they? Does that include my spouse since he is a card holder? I feel like we're being bullied. Thank you for looking at this, and please help!

Re: Are Creditor threats legit?
they can "go after" nothing until they have obtained a judgment. To stop them from their actions you may wish to consult an attorney to advise them to cease and desist. You may also wish to consider bankruptcy and threaten that to motivate them to accept a payment plan. Only cardholders who have signed agreements to pay are liable.
