Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
I have had problems with a debt collector in the form of harrasment. I know that she cannot legally leave abusive voicemails (on a line that is clearly denoted for more then one person), and she has repeatedly left messages with personal information relating to my debt. Additionally, she has left personal information pertaining to my debt with a roomate in my residence. I have contacted the company twice to have this collector removed from my account, but they keep putting her back on my account. I am paying off this debt at a fairly quick pace (approx. 15% of principal/month) and am tired of dealing with her. If my complaints to her ''manager'' are not being dealt with, is there anything else I can do?

Re: Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
You may have a right of action against the debt collector. You will need to engage counsel.
Alternatively, you may wish to contact the Attorney General's office or the FTC.
