Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota
Financial
Weowe somebody some money, about $3,000. It was turned into collections, and eventually we were contacted by a lawyer on behalf of the collection agency. My wife called him to ask if there was any chance we could arrange payments to take care of it, but he said he didn't think there was. Yesterday we received a notice from the courts concerning this matter, which stated that ''there has been no attempt made to contact (attorney) regarding this matter.'' Knowing that is not true, is there any legal standing to get the bill erased in the face of this fraudulent statement on the court document? Or are we still supposed to pay this, which we intended to do, and tried to arrange payments to take care of.
