Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

friend owes money to creditor , co-signed

I have a friend that co-signed a BestBuy Credit for me, i bought some stuff and later payed it off. However after that my friend used the card and bought something, and has not payed anything on it. Since the creditors think I need to pay it, they are sending me stuff. However, since the friend is the cosigner, they should be sending him stuff, but they don't have his address and he doesn't have a phone number, so they are sending me the bills and such with his name on it. NOw that his been a long time they are now asking for me to go to court and pay off the debt, and if don't go then I have to pay it off. Please help I don't know what to do.

Re: friend owes money to creditor , co-signed

If you and your friend are co-signors on the card, you are both responsible for the debt to Best Buy and the company may seek payment from either or both of you. You will be required to pay the debt. Then, you may sue your friend in conciliation court to seek money from her.
