Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Limit

Is their a limit that a credit card can tack on to the original credit card amount. We had a credit card aprox 10 years ago for $300 they want us to pay aprox $6000 back. I do realize we have a debt and need to pay but isnt this a bit excessive? This company levied our our bank account for aprox $900 (which caused us to have all kinds of overdraft charges) and when that didnt cover it they made arrangments for us to pay NO LESS than $400 a month. We tried to pay this for a while but when we couldnt do this any more they threantened to garnish wages and everything else and were not willing to take less a month. Finally my husband talked to somebody higher up and we are currently paying $200 a month. I would really appreciate your expertise on this. Thank you very much!

Re: Limit

In order to gain a better understanding of the issues involved an attorney would need to review the contract you signed with the credit card company and any other documents you have received. I would be happy to help. Feel free to contact me.
