mn statue of limitations

I have a debt colelction out on me for a purchase at kohls. I paid it off but now their saying that i still owe them. What is the statue of limitations in minnesota. And can they still collect after the limitations is over? i'm so stressed out. how long does it take to have your credit look decent when you have two strikes on you?

Usually for contracts it is 6 years, but may be shorter for revolving debt or sale of goods under the UCC.
