Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Money

My father has developed a gambling problem, he is retired.

My mother ( who still works) is afraid that they will come after her for payment. The credit cards he is using are in his name.

My mother has some assets of value including some farm land. How do we protect her from his debt?

Re: Money

There are several steps she should take to protect assets which are hers, and not his. However, the primary goal should be to stop the bleeding, rather than buying more bandaids. Call or email for further assistance.

Re: Money

Your mother needs to get an accurate listing of the assets she and her husband own and and a listing (as accurate as possible) of the debts teh two of them own, separated into his, hers, and ours, and go see an attorney who deals in bankruptcy matters.
