Me neighbor just told me that this debt collector called and told them to tell me I was going to jail for not paying my debts. Can I sue?

A debt collector may not contact a third party and ask that party to relay a message to a debtor. I would recommend contacting a consumer attorney who is familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to discuss your rights and remedies. Our firm would be more than happy to hear from you.
