Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Payday Loan MN Collections

I received a call at 4:50pm 02/01/07 stating that I had 10 minutes to pay an outstanding payday loan for $575 or tomorrow the investigator with the collection agency would be filing a check fraud investigation with the police. I didn't receive any notification of this debt prior. He would not disclose the information just amount. What can I do legally?

Re: Payday Loan MN Collections

I would contact a lawyer that specializes in Violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If a debt collector uses harrassing methods in violation of the law, you may recover up to $500 for each violation. Record the calls if possible.
