Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

still paying my ex's bills

I was divorced in 2/99. My ex somehow charged $6000 on a credit card that we opened jointly in 1995. I thought the account had been closed with all of the others when we were divorced. He filed for bankruptcy in 2002. I had no knowledge of this account until last week. I am now being harassed by a collection agency and they are threatening to sue me. I can easily prove that I had nothing to do with these charges. Can they really make me pay? I am scared. When we were married we lived in Wisconsin, he still lives there and I have been in Minnesota since 1998. All of the charges were made in WI.

Thank you

I may need to see the divorce decree. We might be able to get the CC co to abandon collection vs. you if we get all ID and collection info to them so they can collect from him.

I have 25 years credit and collection experience.
