Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

statute of limitations

i had a credit card that i stopped paying on in 1991.the credit

cardcompany charged off the debt and it is not on my credit report.

there was not and is not a judgement against me for this. can a

collections agency try to collect this debt now and aree they

allowed to access my credit report? i got a call from acompany

(CAMCO) they said that i have to pay them but they would settle for

considerably less than what they say i owed. they also told me

they have put an inquiry on my credit report(which is now perfect)

and will do so every year until i pay them. they also call for days on

end,different people each time.thank you

Re: statute of limitations

I handle matters like this for a number of clients. Without a judgment or a lawsuit served on you, they can take no real action to collect the amount due, except write and threaten legal action by phone (until you tell them to STOP calling).

They can access your credit report since they are a creditor (they probably bought the debt from the CC co.)

Let me know if you would like my help.
