Re: 5th degree domestic violence

I have been successful in preventing a conviction for my clients with domestic and 5th degree assault charges in the great majority of my cases in the past 20 years. They are tough cases, but hard work and patience usually pays off.

A guilty plea is the thing I work hard to prevent. Once a person has pled guilty, it is extremely difficult to undo what has been done. I would say it would be many, many times more difficult, with success much, much less likely, at a far, far greater cost for the attempt -- than preventing a guilty plea in the first place (by retaining me before going to court).

If it is important enough, it may be worth it for you to look into it further, and perhaps to attempt something to help matters. One possible idea for consideration would be a motion to withdraw the plea. Were it successful, the conviction would be vacated and the case would normally start over. Easier said than done, but there is a name of a potential, if difficult to achieve, solution for you.
