Is 5th degree posession of a controlled substance considered a voilent crime?

No. A fifth degree felony possession is not considered a violent crime. the only way it would be considered a crime of violence is if a weapon was present in proximity to the contraband resulting in an enhanced charge and end enhanced penalties for the offense.
